AIB Open Night to highlight early talent opportunities

AIB NI has partnered with Workplus to hold a special event for young people, parents, and career changers during NI Apprenticeship Week.

The bank already has a strong early talent culture and is looking to further grow its staff in Northern Ireland in 2024 through apprenticeships.

There are currently a number of apprenticeship opportunities in AIB NI across Branch, Retail, Business, and Mortgage areas.

Brian Gillan, Head of Retail and Northern Ireland at AIB said “We are pleased to join forces with Workplus in highlighting apprenticeship opportunities within the bank. This is the first time we’ve held an event during NI Apprenticeship Week – it’s an indication of AIB’s commitment to growing talent through apprenticeships. They are a great launchpad for a career in banking, combining on–the–job experience and skill–building, mentoring with AIB colleagues, and continued education.”

The AIB NI Open Night event will take place at 5pm on Tuesday 6th February 2024, at the AIB NI Head Office, Ann Street, Belfast. The event is free to attend and will include information on the apprenticeship roles available, talks from senior members of AIB NI, interviews with current apprentices, and guidance on the application process. To register, visit Eventbrite here.

Applications for AIB NI’s apprenticeship opportunities can be made through Workplus – applications are currently open until 23rd February 2024.

Lucy Marshall, Community Manager of Workplus, which is partnering with AIB NI to promote its opportunities, said, “We are delighted to be continuing to work with the team at AIB NI. With over 400 employees in Northern Ireland, AIB has apprenticeship opportunities across a diverse range of teams and departments. The information event on the 6th February will offer great insight and we look forward to engaging with school leavers, parents and career changers about the fantastic opportunities available.”

Caleb Didrichsen, who is an apprentice at AIB NI, said: “I have been working at AIB now for 5 months and have loved it. Every day there are so many opportunities to learn more about banking and there is a great team who have helped me settle in. I have responsibilities and tasks which have helped to grow my confidence. Going to university one day a week with a group of apprentices helps me with the work I’m doing at AIB and it’s a great balance of working and learning. I would highly recommend applying.”

Northern Ireland Apprenticeship Week runs 5th – 9th February with the theme Apprenticeships: Release Your Potential.
