A bit MORE about us...

Who we are

Belfast TradFest is a registered charity in Northern Ireland which delivers traditional music education, projects, events and festivals in Belfast. Our organisational aims are to:

  • To enhance and develop the skills, talent and creative ability of participants in the traditional arts, through the provision of our programme of activities.

  • To provide access for engagement in traditional music within Belfast.

  • To contribute towards the development and promotion of traditional arts activities within Belfast (and N.I. in general).

  • To encourage and build tolerance, trust, respect and understanding among all cultural, traditional, ethnic and disabled communities.

  • To offer internationally recognised professional musicians for tuition to participants and for performances for audiences.

  • To provide opportunities for meaningful interaction between cultural traditions.

What we do

Belfast TradFest is a small team delivering world-class programmes of traditional music. In 2025, the organisation will present two significant music programmes:

St. Patrick's City Centre Music Weekend, 14th - 17th March 2025. A city centre music programme as part of St Patrick’s Day Celebrations for Belfast City Council. The programme will include concerts, music and dance workshops and céilí’s. The focus of activity will be the creation of an outdoor St. Patrick’s Day Festival Village around the Cathedral Quarter on Monday 17th March.

Belfast TradFest, 27th July – 1st August 2025. World-class musicians will descend on Belfast and bring the city to life for 8-days of concerts, sessions, céilí’s, film screening, talks, workshops, a five-day traditional music summer school and special events.
