Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our finance team as an Accountancy Apprentice. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of accountancy while working alongside experienced professionals. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to various financial activities, develop essential skills, and progress towards a rewarding career in finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, payments, and reconciliations.

  2. Support the preparation of financial reports, statements, and analyses.

  3. Collaborate with team members to ensure accurate recording and reporting of financial transactions.

  4. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.

  5. Participate in inventory management and valuation processes.

  6. Contribute to budgeting and forecasting exercises.

  7. Assist with financial audits and compliance activities.

  8. Provide general administrative support to the finance department as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Meet the academic requirements of the HLA in Accountancy.

  • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Prior experience or coursework in accounting or finance is a plus but not required.

Description

The level 5 Diploma course is the first step on your journey to a new and rewarding career as an Accounting Technician. In your first year the level 4 Certificate prepares you to carry out basic accounting tasks in the workplace. Successful completion of the level 4 certificate will advance you to the level 5 Diploma to further your accountancy studies. The HLA at Erne campus is subject to approval.

Students who gain a place on this course must also register as a student member of Accounting Technicians Ireland. *The fees quoted are payable for each year.

Modules

Level 4 will provide you with a solid grounding in business as well as a strong foundation in accountancy and taxation, together with an introduction to business and company law. By advancing to the Level 5 you will progress your studies in Financial Accounting and Taxation and gain a good foundation in Management Accounting, while also developing relevant practical skills in using electronic accounting systems.

Entry Criteria

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age and meet the minimum entry criteria set by the awarding body, Accounting Technicians Ireland, which is:

  • A minimum of Grade B Maths and C English at GCSE

  • 96 UCAS Points

Mature learners who have reached over 21 years but not possess the minimum educational requirements, can apply based on experience and recommendation from employer.
