ROLE OVERVIEW & BACKGROUND

Arts Care is Northern Ireland’s leading Arts in Health organisation. We deliver a wide range of participatory and commissioned arts programmes at the heart of Health and Social Care and Communities across Northern Ireland. Arts Care’s aim is to enhance the quality-of-service users, staff and community’s experience through participation in and access to quality Arts engagement.  

The post holder will support our Art Programmes by providing a range of administrative, practical hands on, and logistical support. There will be a particular emphasis on supporting the delivery of our commissioned music programmes in health care settings and the development of our growing community music projects. This will include music performance and facilitation at events and workshops.

 

Main responsibilities of the Programme Assistant are as follows:

·       Supporting the Programme Officers with the organisation and coordination of Arts and Music programmes including workshops, exhibitions, and performance showcases and other events that may arise through the artistic programme.

·       Performing music sets at workshops and events with our musicians in residence and project musicians (solo and group)

·       Supporting the Programme Officers with issuing contracts and schedules to musicians and artists

·       Supporting the CEO/Artistic Director with the development of 2 community music projects – Crankie Theatre in Nursing Homes and Inclusive Ceilidhs

·       Supporting set up and delivery of workshops, Galleries and events in the Creative Space including the PA Music system 

·       Work with Finance to implement business processes for community Projects under the new CRM system

·       Complete administration around arts and music project budgets and financial recording

·       Documenting, monitoring and evaluating the projects and contributing to funder returns

·       Support communications, PR and marketing of the arts and music activities

Person Specification


Essential Criteria:

 

1.       Competence in musical performance and ability to perform at Arts Care Events and Music Workshops both solo and accompanied (will be assessed at interview stage)   

 

2.  A desire to use music as a tool for improving mood and emotional wellbeing for people in social care and community settings

 

3. Evidence of the ability to communicate effectively and work as a member of a team.

 

4. Evidence of good organisational skills, the ability to work unsupervised and under pressure.

 

5. Evidence of experience in the use of IT systems including the Internet, Email, Databases, Power-point Presentation, Spreadsheets (Excel) and word processing.

Desirable Criteria:

·       Third level qualification or equivalent in a music or performance related subject 

·       Experience of working in an Arts environment e.g. events planning, front of house, performances, exhibitions.

·       Experience of performing or facilitating in community music projects

In the event of a large quantity of candidates, Arts Care will utilise desirable criteria for shortlisting.
